We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Criminal Legal Assistant to join a dynamic legal team. What You’ll Do:
  • Assist lawyers with case preparation, including preparing and organising legal documents and evidence
  • Manage case files, Court documents, and correspondence with precision
  • Schedule appointments, court hearings, and meetings
  • Conduct legal research as needed
  • Liaise with clients, witnesses, and other stakeholders to facilitate communication
  • Help prepare for trials, hearings, and interviews
Required Skills:
  • Strong understanding of criminal law procedures and terminology
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Proficient in legal research and document management software
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience working in a criminal law firm or within a criminal justice environment
  • Knowledge of relevant court systems and protocols
  • Familiarity with legal billing and calendar management tools
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Undergraduate in Law or Criminology related degree; or postgraduate degree in Law or Criminology related degree, or certification in legal studies/ support or related field
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional court or client meetings outside standard hours
  • Must maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
This role would suit either a career legal support professional with experience in Criminal practice or a law student with a passion for Criminal practice (the future opportunity to work your way to a Grad role and beyond is real (and evident).
