Solicitor (Part-Time, Fixed Term Contract) | South of the River

Introduction
An opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor to join a community-focused legal service on a 12-month fixed-term parental leave contract, working part-time (0.6 FTE). This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by supporting women experiencing family and domestic violence while working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

About the Firm
This is a community-based legal service committed to improving access to justice through client-centred, culturally safe, and collaborative support.

The Role

  • Provide legal advice, casework, advocacy and representation to women experiencing family and domestic violence, including Family Violence Restraining Order matters.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including social work and financial counselling professionals, to deliver holistic support to clients.
  • Contribute to community legal education initiatives, support student learning through the law clinic, and maintain accurate client records and compliance requirements.


About You

  • You will ideally hold a current Western Australian Practising Certificate and have at least 1 year of post-admission experience in civil law, including advocacy and court representation.
  • You will have experience working with clients with complex needs and be committed to trauma-informed and culturally safe practice.
  • You will bring strong communication, organisational and digital literacy skills, together with the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
